AECOM Senior System Safety Engineer in Dahlgren, Virginia

Job Summary

Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing the safety analysis of weapons and weapon systems used by the Navy and Marine Corps. Work with multiple engineers to complete combat system-level, MIL-STD-882-based safety analyses. Develop safety documentation and presentation materials for safety review board meetings. Complete additional tasking associated with the conduct of the safety program, as necessary, which may include research, evaluation of known safety problems, evaluation of requirements, review of test documentation, etc. Demonstrated ability to lead and/or interact with a technical team. Demonstrated ability to plan, communicate, and execute. Domain-level experience, including fleet combat information center operations or technology insertion is a plus; but not necessary.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent. Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in professional capacity and/or US Navy fleet experience.

  • Working experience in system safety engineering, systems engineering, and testing.

  • Working experience with combat systems, displays, weapon systems, and tactical procedures.
