AECOM Entry Level Civil Engineer in Dallas, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer to be based in Dallas, TX.

This position is expected to begin in July, 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Applying knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects

  • Assisting a project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids

  • Assisting in maintaining project documentation

  • Producing high quality plans and effective in communicating the design concept to the contractor

Transportation design including but not limited to:

  • Geometric design of highways

  • Storm and Culvert Drainage design

  • Hydrologic & Hydraulic Studies

  • Erosion Control

  • Plan preparation

  • Cost estimating

  • Report writing

  • Traffic Engineering

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a focus in Transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design software including MicroStation

  • Familiar with MS Office 2010 software (Excel, Word, Project) is required

  • Must be a team player

  • Be responsible for the preparation and production of reports, plans, specifications and estimates.

  • Be involved in all project aspects including design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction.

  • Capable of working independently or within a design team

  • Excellent communication skills with project team, government agencies and clients

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred

  • GeoPak, InRoads, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS experience

  • Experience designing highway/roadway and storm drainage systems preferred
