AECOM Civil Engineer – Risk Analyst in Denver, Colorado

Job Description

The West Region Dams and Reservoirs team of AECOM is actively seeking a motivated, creative, highly talented Civil Engineer with risk analysis experience for employment in the Denver, CO office. The dams and reservoirs team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on water storage and hydropower dam projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration programs, including assigning laboratory testing.

  • Conducting field observations and site visits.

  • Performing material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses for water storage and hydropower dams.

  • Preparing geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for water storage and hydropower dams.

  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations to project team, clients, and technical review boards.

  • Performing dam safety inspections.

  • Conducting potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, serving as recorder, subject matter expert, and/or facilitator in risk analysis workshops, estimating risk, and report documentation.

  • Supporting project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks.

  • Assisting project managers with geotechnical proposals.

Qualifications

Must Have Skills/Experience (Including any required Certifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

  • 4+ years of experience in the civil engineering industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the civil engineering industry

  • Experience working on 3+ risk analysis projects as recorder, subject matter expert, and/or facilitator

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

  • Experience in civil engineering design and evaluation

  • Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility

  • Must be a resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Task lead experience with effective delegation skills

  • Experience with Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D

Additional Information

  • Relocation is available for this role.

  • Some project site travel required (up to 30%)

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The target salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000.
