Job Description

AECOM's West Water, Dams & Reservoirs division is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer to work in our industry leading Hydraulic Structures group located in Denver, CO.

Summary:

  • Providing technical support for structural analyses such as 2D and 3D FEA of concrete gravity dams, curved gravity dams, arch dams, and other hydraulic structures such as intake towers, spillways and spillway gates.

  • Preparing structural reports, drawings, and specifications for water storage and hydropower dams.

  • Participating in dam safety inspections.

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

  • 5+ years of experience in the structural engineering discipline.

  • Valid PE License or equivalent license in home country or ability to obtain PE License within 1 year.

  • Technical experience in dam design and evaluation

  • Experience in preparing design reports, drawings, and specifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility

  • Must be a resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Occasional travel to project sites, both local and remote

  • Experience with ANSYS, SAP2000, MathCAD, Grapher, and AutoCAD Civil3D

Additional Information

  • Relocation is available for this role.

  • AECOM is interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States. Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current H1-B visa holders in the United States.

  • Project related travel up to 30%.

  • Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The target salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000.
