Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Manager to be based in Denver, Colorado .

The Water/Wastewater Project Manager will support and lead projects for water and wastewater clients primarily in the Denver area, but to also include national projects. The qualified candidate should have Master Planning Experience in water distribution and wastewater collection systems, pump stations, hydraulic structures, and water/wastewater treatment facilities, as well as experience in project management and client relationships. This role offers an exciting opportunity to focus on client business growth, project delivery, leadership, and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater engineering expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM’s Colorado area business. The appropriately qualified applicant will have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water and wastewater design and master planning projects.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.

  • Working with senior members of our Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities.

  • Managing projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing and final closeout.

  • Planning, scheduling, conducting/coordinating detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.

  • Providing technical direction to and mentoring junior staff.

  • Technical resource; may serve as technical advisor for the team.

  • Communicates project tasks between offices – high level of coordination and communication skills required.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Supports proposals and develops of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

  • Overseeing the planning and design of various project elements, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables.

  • Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.

  • Oversees construction phase engineering services.

  • Approves and signs off on work.

  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or related discipline plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering and 10 years of related experience

  • Highly preferred Professional Engineering (PE) license in Colorado or the ability to obtain one within first 6 months of employment.

  • Experience working on municipal projects.

  • Experience working with local clients in the Denver region is a plus.

  • Experience in Master Planning.

  • Candidates must have proven interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive ability; strong project financial management along with ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplined teams.

  • Demonstrated network planning experience that demonstrates the development and evaluation of options and proficient in hydraulic network modelling of water and/or wastewater systems.

  • Understanding of current and potential future policy, practice, trends, technology, and information affecting water planning, including drivers, regulation, framework and guidelines.

  • Proven track record in the successful delivery of large projects on time, within budget and outstanding quality.

  • Excellent communication skills and high quality technical and non-technical report writing.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $116,000.00 - $180,000.00.
