Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a Construction Safety Manager with 6 or more years of experience to be based in either Detroit or Southfield, MI office , reporting for in-person work primarily to a client site.

Job Summary:
The Safety Manager will oversee implementation of our clients safety program by various general contractors performing operation, maintenance, and construction work at the client facility, reviewing client submittals and reports, and verifying that the contractors are implementing their own safety plans and programs.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Under minimal direction engages with supervisors, superintendents, foremen, and ES&H personnel working for multiple contractors on the same project, as well as with AECOM project leadership and safety managers.
Engage with Client personnel to develop and implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with ES&H requirements for the project.
Supervises personnel employed by multiple contractors engaged in monitoring and preventing hazards and diseases that could be present throughout the work sites.
Provides technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure regulatory standards are being enforced.
Drafts all necessary reports to AECOM, the Client, and Federal, State, and local agencies.
Coordinates audits of ES&H programs within the organization both by the various Contractors and by performing audits.
Reports to AECOM incidents that impact AECOM operations, business, or personnel.
Assist with overseeing incident investigations performed by contractors.
Keeps informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations. Assists in the development and conducts basic ES&H training to employees.
Communicates programs to enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance.
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS Degree
6 years or more of related experience
Must possess a valid driver's license
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable conditions including heat, cold, noise, and working in the presence of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; position requires frequent standing/walking, vehicle operation, stair climbing and keyboard/mouse operations; often performing repetitive bending & stooping; occasionally using portable ladders, and lifting less than 25 pounds or less; rarely working with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing (and tools, levers, etc.), working at heights, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting 25 to 50 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment.

Experience working on municipal projects is preferred
Must pass a pre-employment background check
Must pass pre-employment drug screen
Must pass motor vehicle record check
Minimum five years of experience in a safety supervisory role
OSHA 30 – Construction Safety course completion
Certified Safety Professional certification obtained within first year
