Job Summary

The Americas Design and Consulting Division of AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Civil Water/Wastewater Engineer for immediate employment in the Florence, SC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering specific to stormwater, water/wastewater treatment, pump stations, utility infrastructure, general transportation, site design, and the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and construction estimates.

Candidate should have the ability to work with other departments at various locations, both internal and external to IE, with a customer service focus as well as the ability to lead others and make sound judgments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to complete diverse project tasks on water and wastewater projects

  • Independently prepares design calculations and reports

  • Manage project tasks including design, permitting and construction administration

  • Communicate project tasks between offices – a high level of coordination and communication skills required

  • Resolve issues or problems concerning conflicting design requirements, specifications and/or difficult coordination

  • Perform constructability reviews of designs

  • Plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work as a part of a significant project or small-moderate scope project

  • Organizes and reviews technical specifications

  • Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments

  • Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs

  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications

  • Experience engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines

  • Possesses necessary skills to complete primary design elements for engineering works

  • Problem-solving capabilities by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of conventional systems or methods developed in previous assignments

  • Ability to receive general instructions on specific assignment objectives, sophisticated features, and possible solutions

  • Broad exposure to different types of projects including some experience across various business lines

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed or registered professional engineer (PE) preferred

  • SC Registered PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
