AECOM HVAC/R Technician 3 in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an industrial maintenance HVAC/R Technician 3 to join our team of multi-skilled technicians in a manufacturing facility near Fond du Lac, WI! Scheduled work days and hours may vary based on business demand.

The HVAC/R Technician 3 is responsible for assisting higher level technicians in responding to work orders and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the facility HVAC equipment, fixtures and systems.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing a variety of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and trouble calls. This position will assist the more senior HVAC/R Technicians in responding to work orders, providing service and feedback to the customer on all hot and cold calls, and performing Preventive Maintenance on various types of equipment as scheduled. Training will be offered on the utilization of the Automated Building Controls. Strong mechanical / electrical aptitude is required, as is the ability to work safely around 3-phase power up to and including 480V.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains, operates and troubleshoots HVAC systems and equipment such as heat exchangers, chillers, and air handling units.

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, rooftop AHUs, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, etc. in an industrial environment.

  • Performs Corrective Maintenance commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs blowers and fans.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical issues.

  • Performs basic plumbing repairs.

  • Performs work based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules.

  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.

  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

Minimum Requirements

  1. High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  2. Three years of experience as an HVAC/R maintenance technician, or demonstrated equivalent combination education and experience.

  3. EPA Universal certification.

  4. Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.

  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.

  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.

  • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.

  • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.

  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Associate’s degree or trade school certification in HVAC.

  2. Working knowledge of 480V 3 phase power systems.

  3. Basic knowledge of chiller operations (centrifugal).

  4. Basic knowledge of Raised Floor AC systems.

  5. Basic knowledge of Café/Restaurant style equipment.

  6. Basic knowledge of BAS systems.

  7. Basic knowledge of Air Handling Units, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers and associated equipment.

  8. Experience in the operations and maintenance at a complex research, commercial or industrial work environment.

  9. Experience performing HVAC preventive maintenance.

  10. Basic knowledge of industrial plumbing.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
