AECOM Architecture Discipline Lead in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Technical Discipline Leader based in Coral Gables, Florida area.
This role will work directly with staff to ensure the quality and standards within AECOM are followed and where possible improved. The Technical Discipline Leader will lead teams from concept through construction administration for technical considerations.
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Act as Miami office expert in providing technical leadership and guidance in architecture, providing strategic planning to increase our profitability within area of expertise.
Keep informed of new building codes and technical drawing requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications within the Miami office.
Uses creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems. Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.
Developing and implementing an architectural discipline equipped with up-to-date architectural and management tools, technical and managerial capability and operating procedures to successfully and efficiently execute major and minor projects and consulting services.
Working with Business Development in developing proposals and presenting company capabilities to enhance success in meeting new business objectives.
Assist Project Manager in creating resource plan
Review proposals and assist in writing project approach
Assist with development of communication plan
Review proposal to Client and Consultant’s scope and fees
Lead the establishment of the technical approach for projects
Assist Project Manager with development of project schedule with focus on introducing QA/QC procedures throughout project development
Develop project workflows and implement during design
Work directly with Design team during concept design to perform preliminary code analysis and provide the framework for the technical design of the project
Participate in monthly project design reviews
Monitor Technical Quality Reviews (TQR procedure) for compliance with technical approach
Assist Design Team during Construction Documents phase:
Review deliverables list
Final code review
Review documentation including drawings and specifications
Confirm design conforms to project budget
Perform constructability reviews
Evaluate systems throughout the project and coordinate with all disciplines. Specific focus on systems applicable to the South Florida environment.
Participate and review cost estimates during each phase of project development
Mentor and develop Junior staff regarding technical skills

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related field and 10 years of project management experience in architecture experience covering all aspects of building design – survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education
Experience in Federal, State and Local codes, particularly ADA (American Disabilities Act), FBC (Florida Building Codes) and FLS (Florida Life Safety) codes
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Architect with a minimum of 12 years overall experience
CSI membership preferred
LEED accreditation preferred
Experience working on large and complex projects/programs
Experience with government agencies/projects
