AECOM Cost Estimator IV in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, and highly talented Cost Estimator with Higher Education and K-12 experience to join our Program and Project Management Group in Coral Gables, Florida area.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs cost estimates on change orders under $25,000, validates entitlement of change orders, updating of expenditures and forecasted costs, manages budgets, validates contractors monthly invoices.

  • Responsible for the estimating, change management, negotiating and processing of change orders. Responsible for development and implementation of financial closeout standards, methods and procedures. The position will interact with stakeholders providing all levels of cost management support for projects. Maintain a historical and current cost database and be aware of construction, material, and labor costs and trends that affect project costs

  • Track cost savings through change order negotiations. Work with project staff on the review and estimation of change orders on projects. Validate scope on projects and compare to budgets.

  • Participates the validation of scope and cost estimates of CMR projects Establishes, tracks and manages budget review process. Develop and implement measures that will provide prompt notice that may require changes to approved budgets Coordinates the scope review and cost estimation process with the Project Manager(s). Closely monitor and report on the impact of changes to project scope. Perform financial audits of each project for timely closeout Participates in weekly staff meetings

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Cost estimating and budget development experience on multiple projects on large scale vertical projects

  • Experience with value engineering

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record to travel between sites

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security preemployment background check.

  • Must pass preemployment drug

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing vertical construction projects or related public works capital projects.

  • OSHA 30 preferred
