Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Design (Power Systems) Engineer II or III to be based in our Fort Mill, South Carolina location.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

Candidate will be assigned to an engineering team working on modification projects for Nuclear, Fossil and Hydro generating stations, and High Voltage substations. Candidate will work under the supervision of a Lead /Supervising Engineer.

Work will include the following:

  • Preparation of calculations and specifications for electrical equipment and electrical power systems. Preparation of bid packages and review of vendor drawings.

  • Walk-downs at Utility generating plants and substations.

  • Multi-discipline design assistance preparing and revising design drawings using AutoCAD or Microstation software. Drawings will be both dimensional (physical arrangement, pipng isometrics, etc.) and non-dimensional (schematic, wring, single line diagrams, P&IDs, etc.).

  • Provide general support to projects in development of modification packages, estimates, material take-offs, and document control.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for a Design Engineer II:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in engineering/design of electrical power auxiliary systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities required.

  • Training and experience using CAD software to revise and/or develop technical drawings. Software tools shall be AutoCAD, Microstation or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel to prepare written reports and spreadsheets.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident.

Minimum Requirements for a Design Engineer III:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in engineering/design of electrical power auxiliary systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities required.

  • Training and experience using CAD software to revise and/or develop technical drawings. Software tools shall be AutoCAD, Microstation or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel to prepare written reports and spreadsheets.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering in Power Systems

  • FE (EIT) Certification

  • Experience with OTI-ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or equivalent software for analysis of electrical power systems
