AECOM MMRP Project Geophysicist in Fort Myers, Florida

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking candidates for a rewarding, long-term career opportunity to support and be part of our successful munitions response program team. AECOM is a clear MMRP leader in delivering the largest volume and best-in-class overall munition services. We seek an industry leader in providing complex geophysical and advanced geophysical classification services world-wide. As a Munitions Response Project Geophysicist you will serve as a part of AECOM’s Advanced Geophysical Classification technical leadership supporting program and project managers on pursuing, planning, and delivering munitions response related projects to our DoD, State, and commercial clients. As a project geophysicist you will direct and mentor our geophysics staff and coordinate in-house and external resources to ensure program and project objectives are being achieved at a high level of safety, quality, and efficiency. AECOM seeks an individual who possess an independent ability to problem solve and who can provide technically superior, cost-effective solutions for our customers.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement geophysical investigation plans for munitions response remedial investigations and removal actions under CERCLA and RCRA regulatory programs

  • Select and utilize various types of geophysical instruments and ancillary components including high precision global positioning systems, inertial motion sensors and software to control and integrate the geophysical system as a whole

  • Manage and monitor the quality of geophysical data acquisition by the site/field geophysicists from geophysical systems including advanced electromagnetic induction (EMI) instruments.

  • Perform geophysical data processing and analysis for traditional digital geophysical mapping surveys and as part of advanced classification methods

  • Prepare planning documents such as Advanced Geophysical Classification for Munitions Response for Quality Assurance Project Plan (AGC-QAPP)

  • Serve as a mentor and provide technical guidance and expertise to practice area professional staff

  • Confirms geophysical projects are being conducted in a manner that assures technical completeness, accuracy and ingenuity and identifies and secures additional expertise where needed

  • Lead and/or participate in proposal efforts

  • Conduct site visits or fieldwork as required

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS Bachelor’s degree in geophysics, geology or closely related field

  • 6 years of directly related munitions response geophysical experience and or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and proficiency with acquiring and analyzing advanced EMI instrument survey data

  • Ability to develop, perform, and oversee quality procedures for advanced EMI instrument data

  • acquisition and analysis

  • Experience with the theoretical and practical aspects of detecting and selecting a wide range of targets of interest and non-targets of interest

  • Geosoft Oasis montaj experience, including the UXO-Land and UXAnalyze module

  • Should be familiar with all current MMRP guidance for conducting munitions response geophysical surveys and delivering high quality timely data to our clients

  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written); good organizational ability; compatibility with other workers and demonstrated ability to carry out independent original scientific thinking

  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a security clearance

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
