AECOM Senior Traffic Engineer in Franklin, Tennessee

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Professional Engineer to join a large, dynamic, and highly technical team of planners, engineers, and technicians in the Franklin, TN office. This position requires knowledge in a variety of Traffic Engineering and ITS disciplines including planning, design, architecture, and communications. The successful candidate will also need to be able to market these capabilities to existing and prospective clients as they grow this department. You'll also have the opportunity to be part of cutting edge ITS projects that utilize the latest technologies for improving all modes of transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight/support

  • Plan and manage tasks and team members

  • Coordinate with other disciplines

  • Interact and coordinate regularly with clients and sub consultants in the various assignments

  • Lead the engineering efforts for traffic engineering reports and studies

  • Lead the engineering efforts for traffic signal design projects, ITS planning and design projects; including following the owner agency's plan development process for preliminary/ROW/const plans

  • Travel within Tennessee as required to serve the clients and projects - Periodic travel to clients in other states may also be required

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Civil Engineer with 6 years of related experience or equivalent experience and/or education

  • Proficient in CAD, various traffic simulation software applications such as: MicroStation, Synchro, VISSIM, TransModeler, and HCS

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer License

  • 8 + years of traffic engineering and ITS experience

  • Projects with TDOT, TN municipalities, or other state DOTs

  • ​Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a strong desire to learn
