Position: Roadway Design Lead
As a Roadway Design Lead, you’ll take charge of roadway engineering efforts from concept through construction, leading multidisciplinary coordination, mentoring staff, and ensuring top-tier deliverables that meet client expectations. You’ll play a key role in project success, from technical leadership to proposal support, all while driving innovation and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Act as the Roadway Design Lead for pursuits and projects from initial design through technical support during the construction phase.
Coordination: Oversee all roadway aspects of projects and inter-discipline coordination with Structural, Environmental, Traffic, Public Involvement, and other discipline leads.
Technical Excellence: Ensure roadway design is completed in accordance with contract guidelines and design documents.
Client Interface: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
Project Management: Establish roadway scope, work plan, and work schedule, managing groups of engineers towards the development of civil design documents and contract deliverables with minimal guidance or supervision.
Quality Assurance: Assure conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring design documents are reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.
Mentorship: Train, mentor, and develop staff, supporting their career growth opportunities.
Marketing Support: Assist in marketing coordination and proposal preparation, participating in proposal interviews.
Quality Control: Implement QA/QC procedures to ensure the technical quality of deliverables.
Client Feedback: Lead responses to client comments on roadway design elements of the deliverables.
Proactive Planning: Anticipate potential budget and schedule impacts, initiating plans for alternative actions.

Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 8 years of relevant design experience in civil engineering - highway design and analysis or demonstrated equivalency or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Preferred:
Experience as engineer of record or roadway/civil discipline lead.
Recent experience in or similar role of a roadway design lead project manager
Established contract client relationship experience

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $140,000.00 - $150,000.00.
