AECOM Engineer II, Geotechnical in Germantown, Maryland

Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Bachelor Degree from an ABET accredited school. in Geotechnical Engineering
2+ years experience or equivalent education in Geotechnical discipline
Demonstrated ability to apply concepts of soil mechanics to design of a variety of projects
Pavement design, shallow and deep foundations, and slope stability design experience
Experience with gINT, Geostudio or other pile design software
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for periods of up to 1 to 2 months
Demonstrated bility to work outdoors in inclement weather
Must be able to lift 50 lbs moving samples and equipment
Valid Driver’s license
Due to the nature of these contracts, must be a US Citizen
Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
M.S . in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred
Experience with a mix of field and office settings.
Experience in monitoring fill placement, pile driving and general geotechnical construction
Demonstrated hands-on experience of conducting large scale subsurface investigations using various drilling methodologies.
Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing.
Experience with installation and monitoring of instrumentation
Experience with technical report writing
