AECOM Entry Level Civil/Geotechnical Engineer in Germantown, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer to be based in Germantown, MD.

This position is expected to begin in May/June 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Performing geotechnical tasks and working closely with other disciplines to meet the project needs

  • Oversight and management of a variety of subsurface investigation programs.

  • Adhere to AECOM safety culture and maintain a safe work environment

  • Assigning geotechnical laboratory testing

  • Performing design calculations for pavements, shallow and deep foundation, tunnel components, and retaining walls, temporary and permanent support of excavation

  • Perform settlement analysis, ground improvement analyses , slope stability analyses, seepage analyses,

  • Prepare of engineering reports and memoranda

  • Performing construction oversight

  • Potential for international travel

  • Ability to work in inclement weather

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or related field

  • Experience with gINT, Geostudio and AutoCAD

  • EIT Certification

  • Valid Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering

  • Thorough understanding of the concepts of soil mechanics

  • Familiarity with the concepts of shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, settlement analyses, retaining wall design

  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills – move above

  • Knowledge of geology within Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia

  • Experience in monitoring fill placement, pile driving and general geotechnical construction, pavement design

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in conducting large-scale subsurface investigations using various drilling methodologies.

  • Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing.

  • Experience with installation and monitoring of instrumentation

  • Experience with technical report writing

Additional comments:

  • Position may require to travel up to 20-30 percent for a period up to 1 week.
