AECOM Environmental Planner I in Germantown, Maryland

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Planner for employment under the Germantown, MD office; work will be performed remotely at project locations. The incumbent can look forward to supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster recovery efforts for disaster-damaged public infrastructure. Staff will be hired as full time employees to support active FEMA assignments for up to 12 months or more. This position is for immediate deployment, and is open to Telecommuting.
Work with the client and the applicant to identify projects that comply with the established categories of work for Public Assistance
Assess disaster-related damages to public infrastructure, develop scopes of work to restore the facility, and prepare a cost estimate for the work to be performed.
Confirm that the identified damages and proposed scope of work comply with local and national codes and standards and FEMA eligibility criteria.
Work directly with applicants requesting support from FEMA; managing the status of their grant development
Identify opportunities for hazard mitigation under the Hazard Mitigation Program
Review and compile information related to compliance with Section 428 of the Public Assistance
Other contract and program management tasks

Staff have to be committed to completing the process efficiently and in accordance with FEMA’s timelines
The U. S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS/FEMA) Personnel Security Division requires all disaster personnel to be U.S. citizens and be able to successfully pass a background investigation . Candidates will be required to disclose personal information including criminal records, credit issues, residential, employment, social and medical history.

FEMA’s determination is made when considering eligibility based in part or whole on the criteria listed below. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and does not represent the full scope of personal conduct and character evaluated in the personnel screening process.
Recent or multiple DUIs
Serious conduct issues involving alcohol use
Involvement with illegal drugs
2. OTHER CRIMINAL CONDUCT:
Pending criminal charge/open dispositions
Currently on probation or parole
Currently subject to a domestic violence or other court ordered protection order
Registered Sex offender or Narcotic offender
3. FINANCIAL: FEMA does comply with all requirements of the FCRA
Any delinquent Federal loans (educational, mortgage, etc).
Delinquent Federal or State taxes, including failure to file.
Delinquent child support payments.
Excessive or past due/delinquent personal debt.
4. DRIVING RECORD:
- A history of serious traffic violations
Bachelor's degree; OR Associate's Degree and two (2) years of related experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of related experience.
Ability to travel to disaster sites for up to 12 months or more.
Ability to work professionally in the client’s office.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Team player, professional, and even-tempered
Detail-oriented, able to organize thoughts and prepare reports
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to mobilize immediately, to a location determined by the client is required
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word, and standard features of Outlook email
Active and current FEMA badge preferred or initiated into the security process
