AECOM Senior Environmental Remediation Engineer in Germantown, Maryland
AECOM is seeking a Senior Environmental Remediation Engineer. Candidate may work from any of the AECOM hub offices located between the Washington DC Metro Area and New England. In this role, you will be a technical leader supporting AECOM’s vast portfolio of Department of Defense environmental investigation and remediation projects. Many of these projects have a primary focus on PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. PFAS are a set of emerging contaminants for which AECOM foresees a significant growth in its business.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Serve as task lead for remediation activities and coordinate the efforts of support staff
Gather and correlate engineering and scientific data using established and well-defined procedures
Assist with preparing Federal proposals for performance-based acquisitions
Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients, regulators, and project stakeholders
Perform work in accordance with budget and schedule with minimal supervision
Utilize scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Prepare technical work plans and reports
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines
Coordinate with task and project managers, work with on-site subcontractors and field staff, support sampling, data collection, and field documentation.
Travel to various job sites within the US
Flexible to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace H&S
BA/BS in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, or Chemical)+ 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education,
Valid U.S. Driver's License, and
Candidate must be able to provide proof of US Citizenship and be able to obtain US Federal Government Credentials
Demonstrated knowledge and successful experience in proposing, designing, and executing soil and groundwater remediation systems.
Life cycle cost estimating, feasibility studies, environmental remedial design proposal writing, and basic fate and transport modeling
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Master’s degree in Engineering
experience preparing proposals for environmental remediation design
Professional Engineering license
Experience investigating sites with conventional and emerging contaminants (specifically PFAS)
Experience developing successful remedial solutions for performance-based acquisitions
Understanding of CERCLA, RCRA, Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act regulations
Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications
Ability to assist with the preparation of cost estimates for remediation plans and activities
Must be able to travel periodically
Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA medical surveillance physical examination
Familiar with various remedial systems design, installation, and operation & maintenance requirements
Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors
OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr Construction H&S certification preferred but will be provided

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range is $90,000 annually to $130,000/year.
