Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a well-rounded, experienced project engineer to serve as the operational leader in our Storm Water Management group. The focus of this role is to manage various storm water projects and help drive business development in the storm water market. The successful candidate will be client-focused and be able to work with an interdisciplinary team to meet design and schedule requirements.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals, work scopes, and cost estimates.

  • Managing project tasks involving multiple technical disciplines.

  • Setting appropriate priorities and effectively managing resource requirements such as time, talent, budget and materials.

  • Solving problems and making sound and timely decisions using knowledge, experience and judgment.

  • Leading storm water management planning and design processes.

  • Demonstrating and transferring knowledge of VA storm water banking, alternative delivery options, and the storm water regulatory community.

  • Contributing, from a technical perspective, on regulatory compliance reports and presentations.

  • Assisting management with market analysis and business development plans.

  • Serving as a mentor and assisting junior level staff/peers.

  • Leading both field and office tasks associated with storm water modeling, TMDL planning, and BMP designs.

  • Designing BMPs in accordance with the new VDEQ Clearinghouse standards.

  • Developing TMDL Action plans as needed.

  • Performing quality reviews relative to storm water management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 10+ years of related experience, 2+ years of which are included and coordinating all technical aspects of mid-size to large projects.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

  • Strong business acumen and business development skills.

  • Must be able to design BMPs in accordance with new VDEQ Clearinghouse standards.

  • Must be an excellent written and oral communicator and be capable of leading field and office tasks associated with storm water modeling, TMDL planning, and BMP designs.

  • Knowledge of VA storm water banking, alternative delivery options, and the storm water regulatory community is a must.

  • Must possess a broad general knowledge of many aspects of engineering for one or more market sectors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with developing TMDL Action plans

  • Certified Floodplain Manager, Certified Stormwater Manager, Qualified Environmental Professional, or other advanced certification

  • Major pipeline E&S and stormwater permitting experience
