AECOM Mid-Level Scientist / Geologist in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.
Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
Degree in science or related field required.
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related science degree
4+ years of related experience
Must be able to work in a team environment; individually; and interact with other engineers, scientists, and administrative support
Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
Tolerance for overnight travel and working some amount of the time in an outdoor environment
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive
Must participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty questionnaire
Must possess a valid driver's license
Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination
40-Hour Hazwoper Certificate/Training, with 8-Hour Refresher (current)
Effective oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, Outlook)
Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States
6+ years of related experience
Strong Task and Field Management
PFAS related work preferred
First Aid/CPR Training
Fall Protection/Prevention Training/Competency
Confined Space Entry Training/Competency
Excavation/Trenching Training/Competency Fire Extinguisher Use/Inspection Training
HAZWOPER Supervisor (8-Hour) Certification
