Job Description

AECOM is looking for a part-time Construction Engineering Sr Manager to work out of our Greenville, SC office on existing and upcoming projects.

This role is available immediately.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

  • Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.

  • Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Meets with clients to identify future opportunities.

  • Assist with hiring and training qualified staff.

  • Develop proposals and prepare scope/fee estimates for new work.

  • Resolve unforeseen site conditions, unplanned interferences, contract discrepancies, and other construction conflict problems and disputes between contractor, site staff, inspector, project manager, and professional consultants.

  • Administer the change order and allowance process; review requests for schedule or cost adjustment and negotiate changes to the contract; prepare change order documents for approval

  • Evaluate, approve, and process the contractor’s request for payment.

  • Provide continuous coordination between all stakeholders.

  • Manage the project close out phase, including certificate of substantial completion, punchlist, and receipt of as-builts, warrantees, and manuals.

  • Prepare and Implement Health and Safety Plans.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina.

  • Valid Driver's license with clean record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience as a project manager/construction manager

  • Experience with SCDOT Construction Manual

  • Experience with SCDOT Standards and Details

  • Experience with SCDOT Specifications

  • Experience with Pertinent state safety regulations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
