Job Description
AECOM is hiring a Senior Transportation Civil Engineer (Civil Highway Department Manager) to manage our civil highway engineering department in Mechanicsburg, PA. We are seeking an experienced engineer who is client focused. Projects range from roadway and site-civil design, highway and bridge projects, traffic engineering analysis, and transportation planning studies.
The Civil Highway Department Manager will lead transportation projects for our Pennsylvania clients and will work on other regional and national projects as a key member of the AECOM Mid-Atlantic Transportation Division.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performing engineering, planning, and modeling efforts for all areas of roadway design projects.
Collaborating with other engineers, planners, and modelers to research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation analyses or design issues.
Assisting in the engineering and planning effort for roadway and highway design, maintenance of traffic, and safety projects including following the agency's plan development process.
Guiding/ mentoring junior engineers and providing QA/QC for projects in various areas of highway design, analysis, and simulation.
Interacting and coordinating regularly with clients and sub consultants in the various assignments
Understanding trends, best practices, and innovation in the transportation industry and exploring opportunities of implementing them on projects.
Assisting with business development activities in providing responses to RFP, RFQ, and SOQ including technical writing, and scope and fee development.
Serving as supervisor for civil-highway engineering staff in our Mechanicsburg office.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other equivalent degree
8 plus years of related work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience with PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects
PE License in Pennsylvania or reciprocal is required or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in civil engineering with an emphasis on Roadway, Drainage, Traffic, Site-Civil projects.
Bentley InRoads, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or similar design applications.
Project design team lead experience
Experience with being a people manager for engineering and other technical staff.
MS Office software application skills, such as spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software
Industry standard computer software
