Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Chemist in Honolulu, Hawaii. This person will be working with and in support of project managers and project assistants.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories.

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

  • Perform data review and validation for multi-media data.

  • Ensure project- and QAPP-specific data requirements are met.

  • Support field efforts by preparing sampling plans and field documentation.

  • Work with data management to manage data flow from the laboratory to final reporting.

  • Research environmental laboratory practices and methodologies.

  • Prepare proposals, procures, and oversees laboratory services and approves invoices.

  • Conduct field and laboratory technical system audits.

  • Prepare technical reports and papers, and QAPPs.

  • Coordinate with end user to define data quality requirements and to help assure that data are scientifically sound and are usable in meeting end-use objectives.



  • BA/BS in Chemistry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.


  • 0+ years of relevant experience.

  • Candidate must be able to travel and work outdoors as needed.

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation used for environmental analysis (i.e. GC/MS, ICP, GC-ECD, IC, etc.).

  • Must be proficient in standard office computer applications and software, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.Master's or PhD’s degree in Chemistry or other related field.

  • Experience in laboratory or environmental chemistry a plus.
