Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planning Intern for employment in the Honolulu, Hawaii office.
This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

About DCSA—Environment

We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Interpret and record data.
Conduct research and analyses.
Contribute to environmental documents and compliance processes.
Provide appropriate support to AECOM multidisciplinary teams.
Assisting in developing solutions for tasks which may include comprehensive planning and elements such as historic preservation, environmental impact assessment, environmental permitting, resource agency consultation and coordination, land use, transportation, capital improvements, infrastructure, housing, fiscal analysis, public policy, and site planning/analysis.
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, Historic Preservation, Architecture, Hawaiian Studies, Cultural or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or other related field and must have completed one year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly motivated and accountable.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
Experience with ArcGIS.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite as well as overall strong computer proficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent technical writing, research, analytic, and graphic skills.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and permitting processes and regulatory requirements (e.g. NEPA, NHPA Section 106, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Special Management Areas, Special Districts, etc.).

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $18.00/hour - $25.00/hour.
