Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a mid-level geologist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of military munitions response and environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have BS in Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Science with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects.
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years experience in response and environmental investigations and through site clean-up and closure. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.
Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Geology, Engineering or Science AND four (4+) years of experience or a demonstrated equivalence of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites
Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations.
Ability to travel 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
Knowledgeable and experience working on State of Hawaii, Department of Health TGM, SCP, and local environmental regulation
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ph.D or Masters Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, engineering, or related discipline.
Position requires analytical and interpersonal skills, solid planning and organizational skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management.
Ability to obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.
Able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $90,000.00.
