Job Description

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated experienced Geologist for our Honolulu office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, and evaluation of hydrogeologic and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects in Hawaii. Projects include large Federal clients and projects.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, and time management.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

  • Ability to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS - Geology, or Geological Sciences AND two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites

  • Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Check

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment Medical Check

Preferred Requirements:

  • Professional Geologist License or Geologist in Training Certificate.

  • Familiarity with common drilling techniques for environmental work.

  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time

  • 3 years of experience within the consulting industry.

  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.

  • Experience military munitions response and environmental projects

  • Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.

  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00.
