Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a mid to senior-level geologist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of military munitions response and environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for the Federal sector. The successful candidate will strong experience in environmental investigation, remediation projects, response, environmental investigations, and through site clean-up and closure. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge.

  • Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.

  • Makes recommendations on research requests, objectives, priorities, and timing.

  • Assess need for change and recommends development of standards.

  • Assess work against standards, objectives and specifications.

  • Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self-initiated. Acts as advisor to management and clients. Oversees the work of less experienced scientists.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Geology, Engineering or Science AND 8+ years of experience or a demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations.

  • Master’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, engineering, or related discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience within the consulting industry, demonstrating technical leadership in conducting remedial investigations and design.

  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.

  • Knowledgeable and experience working on State of Hawaii, Department of Health TGM, SCP, and local environmental regulation

  • Candidate must possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Professional Registration preferred

  • Position requires analytical and interpersonal skills, solid planning and organizational skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management.

  • Ability to obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

  • Able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $130,000.00.
