Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer for our Building + Places group in Houston, Texas.

The majority of specific project types would be sports (collegiate and professional basketball arenas, football stadiums and baseball parks), military (air force bases) and industrial (manufacturing facilities, industrial campuses, etc.). We also, do a lesser extent, work on mission critical facilities (data centers) as well as healthcare and federal projects. Sports will be approximately 70% of all the work.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lead electrical engineer on mid to large projects (anywhere from 20,000 square feet to >100,000 square feet), coordinate design with other engineering disciplines and architects.

  • Create lighting and lighting controls design, power distribution design, and fire alarm design (to a lesser extent IT and AV). Perform short-circuit, voltage drop and load analysis calculations.

  • Create one-line diagrams, power/fire alarm/lighting plans, create and calculate panel schedules.

  • Organize and generate details for plans. Direct other electrical designers or engineers on previously mentioned duties, go to and discuss/explain electrical designs with clients and architects.

Job Requirements:

  • Performs work, which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Competent in all conventional aspects of Electrical Engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard Electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations.

  • Perform tasks related to Construction Administration (RFI and Submittal reviews, punch list visits, etc.)

  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected and may be the first level of direct and sustained supervision of other engineers or technicians.

  • Provides technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

  • Works independently with general guidance and directs project team execution.

  • Able to define project scope and prepare cost proposals.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD software

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in building engineering (power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, IT, security

  • SKM Power tools (or other equivalent power analysis software), AGI32 (or other equivalent photometric software

  • Experience in sports facility design
