Job Summary

The Joint Venture Accounting Manager directs and manages the functions of the Joint Venture Accounting Team. Responsible to ensure joint venture financial activities occur timely and accurately in accordance with US GAAP, AECOM policies and Joint Venture agreements.

This position can be based at our Houston or Austin, TX office.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: May include but not limited to the following:

  • Manages the coordination of activities of the Joint Venture Accounting Team with responsibility for results. Ensure proper oversight and accounting for joint ventures.

  • Analyze joint ventures for consolidation and proper accounting treatment.

  • Oversee the training and development of the joint venture accounting team; Provide guidance to employees within the latitude of established policies. Act as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to improve JV financial reporting; expand standardization and increase efficiency.

  • Interface regularly with Management and Project Teams

  • Coordinate with Operations, Finance Directors and Finance Managers on the assignment of JV staff accountants, especially on complex joint ventures, to optimize staff utilization.

  • Oversight responsibility for joint venture financial performance and key indicators to identify risks and potential issues.

  • Participate in regional Risk Committee reviews when joint ventures are involved.

  • Oversee Joint Venture Cash Flow Activities

  • Promote and monitor compliance with US GAAP, statutory & regulatory requirements and company policy

  • Audit support

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or related field, preferable in joint venture accounting, with 8 or more years of experience, 3 or more years of managerial experience.

  • Strong leadership skills; Be an agent of change.

  • Understanding of financial reporting and joint venture accounting under US GAAP.

  • Strong analytical, written and verbal skills; Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Good knowledge of systems including Excel.

  • Multi-task oriented with ability to prioritize tasks accordingly with an ability to see the "big picture": work independently as well as in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA

  • Oracle finance systems

  • Foreign language skills (French and Spanish).
