AECOM has an opening for a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices in multiple locations across the United States. It is an excellent career opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background and looking to grow into an engineering leadership role.
Our team provides a wide range of electrical engineering services across markets sectors including transmission (substations, OH/UG transmission systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy), power distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), and next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.). We are looking for a strong leader with a power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in electrical power engineering coupled with leadership experience.
Experience and Focus:
The successful candidate is expected to be a detail orientated, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently. Along with your technical excellence, you will also be expected to provide leadership for the other electrical engineers in our Energy group. The focus of the experience must be in the power industry associated with electrical engineering and design of electrical distribution systems within facilities. It is a plus to have design experience within solar or other renewable energy facilities.
Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Responsible for the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects
Working with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
Performing Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)
One line and three-line diagrams, Protective relay and metering one line / three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, Panel Layouts, Equipment layouts and sectional views
Connection Diagrams, Motor Schematics, Bill of Materials
Cable Schedules, DC power distribution design
Complying with hazardous area classification codes and standards
Developing construction and equipment specifications
Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
Grounding Analysis and Design
Reviewing engineering work performed by peers
Attending client meetings
Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements. (Project Lead Engineer)

BA/BS (Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering preferred) plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Willingness to travel occasionally
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

6+ Years of experience as an Electrical Engineer associated with the design of electrical distribution systems within facilities.
Strong familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, PIP etc).
Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to lead engineering tasks
Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish.
Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
Power systems analysis software experience (SKM, EasyPower, Etap).
Solar or wind facilities
