The Sr. Cloud Automation Architect is a highly motivated technical role responsible for the identification, design and implementation of technologies that support and enable cognitive intelligent automation solutions for the AECOM multi-cloud architecture.
The position reports into the Director, Cloud Delivery and will play a key role in shaping the future of disruptive digital innovation that targets AECOM cloud strategy and services. We are looking for a Sr. Cloud Automation Architect with expertise in creation of automated solutions and proven automation scripting hands-on expertise combined with strong communication skills. This is a highly technical role that requires deep Automation frameworks knowledge. In this role, you will help to drive the overall cloud automation strategy and will be working alongside sharp, like-minded automation specialists, software developers and solution architects. As an Automation Architect, you will lead, improve and enhance automation practices and tools selection by demonstrating innovative ideas while leading automation initiatives. You will proactively identify and implement automation strategies to improve reliability, stability and leveraging automation and self-service initiative across a multi-cloud architecture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Be the subject matter expert for technologies that provide automation capabilities; stay current on evolving trends in the automation industry.
Research, evaluate, design, and implement IaC automation solutions utilizing advanced technologies that meet or exceed customer requirements.
Recommend and implement technology standards and best practices, such as CI/CD, for developing and maintaining automation solutions.
Have a customer focused mindset to deliver single click self-service modules to enable AECOM’s internal customers and help with a DEVOPs transformation
Hands-on experience with Cloud Automation and Orchestration technologies such as: vRO / Terraform / AWS CloudFormation / Azure ARM Templates
Hands-on experience in configuration automation technologies such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible
CI/CD – Deployment pipeline experience (Jenkins, CircleCI, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps or Bamboo)
Experience working in a team environment using agile sprint methodologies and tools including Jira, Git, Azure DevOps
Strong agile & Scrum skills with accountability for end to end delivery including planning and estimating workload
Knowledge and experience in container’s technology stack
Provide input to the design of ServiceNow based ITSM solutions as a recognized Architect or Design Authority
Work closely with appropriate teams and vendors to provide the technical bridge that ensures impact, risk, and value are properly understood by stakeholders
Coordinate project teams to ensure approved solutions architecture and design are understood and followed; evaluate and make recommendations for change requests
Provide technical leadership and guidance for Intelligent Automation-based solutions from early phase proposals through design, code, test and implementation
Provide effective communication, status, and documentation to project management, stakeholders and senior leadership
Serve as a liaison between architecture, business customers, solution development, project managers, network infrastructure, server engineering, and support teams
Ability to speak the languages of both business and technology and quickly determine the right message to the right audience
Lead technical discussions to determine new architecture recommendations and/or changes within current solution infrastructure
Document solutions designs in technical architecture documents and solution architecture documents
Level specific responsibilities:
Contributes to short- and/or long-range IT program plans consistent with the information needs and priorities of the functional group.
May develop and initiate programs that support functions and strategies of IT and the organization.
May perform the personnel management functions required to develop and maintain a qualified and motivated staff.
Oversees the administration and maintenance of the company’s infrastructure and directs, leads and manages as necessary.
Works with diverse business groups and customers to implement strategic objectives for the IT organization.
Reports to an IT Director.
May provide consultation and support to project groups and users in operating systems.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study and 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including at least 2 years of leadership experience.
Development background with strong programming skills is a plus
Experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP implementations
Knowledge of all components of a Technical Architecture
Knowledge of business process re-engineering
DevOps certifications will be a plus
Experience with the VMware VRealize & vCloud Suite
Experience with test automation and test management tools
Strong understanding of network, Infra architecture and application development methodologies
Strong understanding of SOA, Microservices, Object-oriented analysis and design
Thorough understanding of DevOps and CI/CD
Thorough understanding of GitLab
Hands-on test automation experience in an Agile Development environment
Hands-on experience specifying, establishing and managing test environments and test data for load and functional automation
Knowledge of containers and virtualization
Knowledge of automated build management tools
Experience in Infrastructure management and automation technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Azure DevOps
Experience in monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, New Relic & DataDog
Demonstrated understanding of Identity Management solutions and their impact to solutions being developed
Must also have strong self -motivation and leadership skills. Requires little to no direction to accomplish tasks. Contributes to setting direction for projects and tasks.
Ability to identify and understand problems and/or issues and develop solutions. Applies strong strategic thinking in designing technology solutions to solve complex business problems. Ability to innovate in generating creative ideas to solve business problems
Integration experience with Oracle DB, Active Directory, Web Services (SOAP/REST), Microsoft SQL DB
Experience in corporate back-office and shared services functions
Relocation is not available for this position
