Job Description

Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Transportation Planner - Freight to be based in Houston, Texas office.

The position is in the Traffic/ITS & Technology team, where there’re opportunities to work on exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation projects. Under supervision, this position will be responsible for supporting a variety of engineering, planning and data analysis tasks for technology, transportation and traffic applications. Join a team of experienced technology solution experts to create innovative solutions applying new and emerging technology to transportation.

This position is expected to start as soon as possible.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Creatively solve multimodal transportation problems involving emerging technologies in the transportation industry (e.g. CAV, EV, TNC, etc), with a focus on freight planning.

  • Lead research, data collection, processing, and analysis for freight planning projects/studies

  • Support planning manager on technical analyses, feasibility studies, and other transportation reports or memorandums

  • Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Prepare and give effective presentations

  • Good communication skills and team spirit

  • Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 YORE in transportation planning or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning with an emphasis in Transportation or other related fields

  • 7-10 years of experience in transportation planning, with a focus on freight planning

  • Working knowledge of freight data and freight planning

  • Working knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position such as ArcGIS, PowerBI and Tableau

  • Fluent in spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Project experience in freight planning projects/studies

  • Self-motivated individual with strong research, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Have a basic understanding of travel demand modeling and basic experience with modeling software such as TransCAD, Cube, and DynusT.
