Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business Unit is actively seeking a creative, innovative, and highly motivated mid-level Municipal Water/ Wastewater Engineer for immediate employment in the Houston, Texas office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful, and be decisive. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a career in design / engineering, specific to water and wastewater infrastructure engineering projects. The selected candidate will support AECOM’s water/wastewater business with a variety of primarily municipal clients in Houston and throughout the Gulf Coast Region.

The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Technical lead for multi-disciplinary teams to undertake water and wastewater treatment and pumping projects.

  • Work with a project manager to implement the project including coordination with project stakeholders, consultants, contractors and other external and internal parties to achieve project milestones.

  • Prepare technical memoranda, planning studies and final design calculations, plans and specifications;

  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Assurance policies and procedures in preparation of deliverables..

  • Oversee construction phases of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget;

  • Ensure project work is undertaken in accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Professional Engineer registration in Texas

  • Experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables.

  • Knowledge of local codes, development processes, and utility regulations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • Experience managing water and/or wastewater pumping, treatment and conveyance projects

  • Experience working with clients in both the public and private sectors
