Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Director of Operations (Commissioning Manager) to be based in our Idaho Falls, ID location.

The Operations job family is responsible for the overall direction of a major segment of a subsidiary, a number or specific type of project(s), market area, division or department and the assigned staff in their organizational entity. This position must have demonstrated the ability and knowledge to effectively manage the type of projects that they are accountable for.

Knowledge and experience includes, but is not limited to: nuclear facility start-up, commissioning, and operations, construction testing activities and work control, design and operations engineering interfaces. , estimating, equipment, materials, contract administration, subcontractor management, claim negotiations, project controls, labor relations, finance, manpower development and utilization and the development and maintenance of client and competition contracts.

Successful incumbent:

  • Monitors the performance of work to ensure it is done in accordance with cost, schedules, contractual and client requirements.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of commissioning, operations and maintenance programs

  • Contributes to the achievement of market development goals.

  • Provides organization leadership

  • Ensures adherence to company policies, standards and procedures and governmental regulations.

  • Resolves conflicts or controversy to facilitate meeting established company objectives.

  • Responsible for the overall direction of project activities performed in a division, market or geographic area.

  • Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques and procedures.

  • Provides general direction to key project management personnel.

  • Creates a Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Science; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience. Appropriate training and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position may be considered in lieu of a degree:

  • 15 years related experience to the position and 20 semester credit hours in technical subjects related to the position

  • This is a management level position requiring extensive and diversified project management experience on types of projects for which they are accountable.

  • 4 Years of Nuclear facility experience required. (Nuclear Experience when used in reference to Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities, is experience acquired at any facility in which radioactive materials are routinely handled, stored, processed, or utilized. A Bachelor of Science (BS) may be substituted for up to 3 years of nuclear experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 18 years of extensive and diversified leadership experience on types of projects for which there was direct accountability.

  • Professional engineer’s license
