Job Summary

Maintains all TCTS AS, LATR PIP, Iridium and IMPASS systems/sub-systems and associated equipment. Installs and removes equipment. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic circuits and coordinates for maintenance and repairs beyond local capability. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all TICS AS and LATR PIP, Iridium and IMPASS subsystems and associates interface equipment. Extensive equipment handling and administrative processing to prepare/ deliver equipment to meet operational requirements. Pack equipment, parts etc. for shipment. Document maintenance in IEMS, various log books, and data bases.

Assist in performing complex troubleshooting, isolate malfunction, repairs to the component level, and incorporate engineering changes. Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of RF operating system diagnostics and circuits. Exercises independent judgment on tasks such as making circuit and waveform analyses, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators) and specialized test equipment (T4B Test Set, LIBSS test set, LATR portable test units, and TCTS AS test sets) to perform complex troubleshooting, isolate malfunctions, and repair equipment to the component level when possible. Work typically requires detailed understanding of equipment specifications, power interface requirements, AC/DC power supplies, digital/analog signal processing, circuit analysis, RF theory, and GPS principles/theory. Work may be reviewed for compliance with accepted practices by supervisor.

Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Provide on-the-job training to other technicians. Support special tests, evaluations, equipment relocations, and new equipment installations as required. Coordinates integration efforts with associate contractors. Performs organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on assigned equipment. Performs corrosion control on all assigned equipment.

Other required duties include:

Installs and supervises installation of LATR equipment on various participant platforms.

Fabricates unique power and RF interfaces to allow installation and operation of LATR PIP assemblies for non-standard exercise participant platforms.

Maintains asset control on all Instrumentation equipment, and completes DD1149s for equipment issue.

Provides technical support to visiting engineers.

TCTS/LATR Umbilical re-build

TCTS/LATR Hanger removal and replacement

Equipment delivery, travel to delivery points

Completes DD1149’s for equipment issue

Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and selecting tools and testing instruments. Receives technical guidance as required, from higher level technician.

Will be operationally qualified at designated tech level within 90 days of hiring or promotion.

Cross-trained and qualified to operate other range systems


Minimum Requirements

Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy "C" School or vocational school with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance and equipment manufacturer training.

Two years’ electronic maintenance in the following areas:

Digital/analog signal processing;

DC power supplies;

Test equipment;

RF signal processing (bench alignment and component level repair, VHF, UHF, and microwave)

Low voltage AC equipment;

Antenna systems

Primary and secondary power equipment;

Two years of Tactical Training Range equipment operation may be waived with extensive experience: TCTS/ACMI/CCS/ADDS/PCDS/JDS/ ICADS

Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Physically able to perform extended physical labor to include heavy lifting and carrying of PIPs (assist in lifting/carrying 190 lb), Iridium and other LATR-associated equipment during aircraft/ship/participant installation.

Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver’s License.

Must possess an active DoD Security clearance.

Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. (Within 6 months of hire date)
