The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft weapons systems and system interfaces. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft ordnance components, such as aircraft pylons and , and bomb racks, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and test equipment. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. This mechanic performs progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines weapons systems components for malfunctions, cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing fasteners, removes/installs pylons and racks from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembles and inspects parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective parts and reassembles and installs components in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic: adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories associated with aircraft weapons systems, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including, greasing moving parts. This incumbent supervises lesser grade workers, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair. This worker may be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.

AECOM is immediately hiring qualified Aircraft Mechanic I’s Armament (AO) in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Jacksonville, FL.
Shift work and detachment is required.
High School graduate or equivalent, Navy Aviation Class A School (or military equivalent), with a minimum three (3) years actual and recent aviation maintenance experience, with 18 months as a Quality Assurance Inspector, or possess a valid A&P license.
Must have 3 years o-level aircraft system maintenance experience, with 3 years inspector experience (CDI, CDQAR). Must obtain CDI within 30 days from start date.
Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
Any additional qualifications or license required to maintain aircraft.
Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties.
Inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with applicable directives, and ensure that those assets are utilized in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
Participate in the investigation of any injury and/or the resolution of any problems in quality or performance that may hinder production or be detrimental to the program.
Participate in the training and qualification of new personnel.
Promote communication to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident prevention, quality of work, and environmental compliance.
Promote positive communication with all site departments, company management, and our customers to ensure the proper execution of our contract.
Participate in required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training and ensure that it is documented in a timely manner.
Initial attendance sheet on a daily basis, verifying your start time and proper accounting of all assigned PPE.
