AECOM Environmental Siting Specialist / NY State Article VII Specialist in Latham, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Siting professional to be based in either Latham, NY or New York City, NY. This is a career opportunity to work with a large, focused IAP-Power Permitting Group in the Northeast supporting electric transmission, offshore wind and other renewable energy projects including solar and battery storage.

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Managing NYSDEC Article VII Siting and Permitting Process for Power and Electric Transmission projects in NY State and/or NYC

  • Utilize experience with SEQRA, USACE S. 404/S. 10 and other state environmental permitting programs

  • Leading the Permitting team and exploring new and/or managing existing Clients.

  • Managing the environmental siting and permitting for utility clients

DCSA Environment

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Wetland Science, Engineering, Policy or Geology or similar

  • 8+ years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience working the NYSDEC Article VII Siting and Permitting Process for Power and Electric Transmission projects in NY State and/or NYC required

  • Prior experience working with Article VII and Article X of the New York Public Service Law required

  • Demonstrated experience with environmental permitting of transmission and distribution and substation assets in the state of New York required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Environmental Science, Wetland Science, Engineering, Policy or Geology preferred

  • Experience with SEQRA, USACE S. 404/S. 10 and other state environmental permitting programs highly desired

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to provide oral public testimony required.

  • Strong Project Management Skills and ability to work within a team environment required
