Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Structural Engineering Discipline Lead for immediate employment in our upstate New York offices (Latham, NY or Buffalo, NY).

The candidate will be assigned to AECOM’s Transportation Business Line and will work on a variety of design-build civil engineering projects for local, state, and federal agencies and private sector clients.

Projects are located throughout New York State plus Vermont and western Massachusetts. The position will involve some travel to visit project sites, clients, or other AECOM offices but primarily this is an office position.

The candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to help the team meet project goals and comply with company standards.

This individual will manage project or structure tasks on major projects and/or will supervise a number of professional engineers / entry-level engineers.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical leadership for a specialty

  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.

  • Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences

  • Resolves important questions and plans and coordinates work

  • Utilizes advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines

  • Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters

  • Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS Civil Engineering or similar degree + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with NYDOT / NYSTA standards

  • Familiarity with local, municipal and state clients

  • Design-build experience and familiarity with local contractors
