AECOM Mid-Level Project Manager in Long Beach, California

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to be based anywhere in California. This full-time position within our Environmental group will lead a team to help manage a variety of oil and gas remediation projects with oversight from senior managers and technical experts. The ideal candidate will require a strong focus on health and safety, be detailed orientated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits

  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for tasks small to mid-sized remediation construction projects

  • Building strong client relationships

  • Client and regulatory correspondence

  • Technical report writing and review

  • Analyzes and applies solutions to atypical and/or semi-complex and challenging issues within area of expertise

  • Manage project financials to meet project goals

  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals

  • Working effectively with project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders

  • Coordinating work schedules with AECOM staff and subcontractors

  • Responsible for quality control of tasks

  • Mentor project Jr. staff

  • Will require some regional travel for field visits

  • Supervise up to 10 staff

This position requires both office and field work; the successful candidate should expect to be out in the field up to 30% of the time mentoring junior staff. Remote work is an option if applicable to project responsibilities. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. Construction tasks will include the abandonment or decommissioning of surface and subsurface facilities or related assets.

We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor s Degree in, Environmental Science, Business Management, Engineering, Geology, or closely related field and 4 years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in, Environmental Science, Business Management, Engineering, Geology, or closely related field and 4 years of experience in environmental consulting

  • 2 years of project management experience Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for clients in the oil and gas market sector

  • Ability to successfully pass all pre employment screenings.

  • Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training Supervisory experience
