AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer II to be based in Los Angeles, CA [and various unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S].
Civil Engineer II needed by AECOM Technical Services, Inc. Los Angeles, CA [and various unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S] to perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established design procedures.
Work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple test.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identify discrepancies in results. Provide guidance to entry level engineers.
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision. Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Develop details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Prepare engineering related calculations, drawings and visual aids.
Work under the supervision of a project manager or Senior-level team member.
Apply knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects.
Assist project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids.
Assist in maintaining project documentation.
Produce high quality plans and effectively communicate the design concepts to the contractor. Lead a team of engineers to develop plan submittals.
Work with Contractors to optimize design as designs develop. Lead and/or supporting roadway designs utilizing OpenRoads Designer to develop 3-D models, HEC-RAS, AutoTurn, and ProjectWise.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids; assisting in maintaining project documentation; producing high quality plans and effectively communicate the design concepts to the contractor; gathering and correlating basic engineering data using established design procedures; working on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple test; leading and/or supporting roadway designs utilizing OpenRoads Designer to develop 3-D models, HEC-RAS, AutoTurn, and ProjectWise.
