Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for a team-oriented attorney with corporate transactional experience to join us as a Corporate Counsel. As a key member of a collegial, fast-paced corporate legal team, you will focus on general corporate matters, including commercial contracts, corporate finance and M&A transactions and other general corporate legal matters across a broad spectrum. Reporting to the Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, Corporate, the position will be located in our Downtown Los Angeles office with primary responsibilities including:

  • Assisting on a variety of corporate transactional matters, including commercial contracts across all corporate functions, corporate finance and treasury transactions, and acquisition and divestiture transactions.

  • Providing timely advice and counsel to senior management by advising on laws, regulations and company policies.

  • Working with stakeholders, including other corporate functions, law department colleagues and business operations staff for matters both within and outside of direct subject matter expertise or responsibility.

  • Establishing and maintaining best practices, guidance materials, controls and standard contract forms.

  • Assisting other members of the legal team and corporate management on a broad range of corporate legal matters as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must possess a strong work ethic, flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters and the leadership and collaboration qualities that will enable them to potentially grow into a broader role within a global legal department. Required background and attributes include:

  • Two to four years corporate commercial and transactional law experience in firm and/or in-house environments.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, drafting, negotiation and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent judgment with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent organizational skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proven ability to lead transactions and projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve problems.

  • Practical team player with the ability to professionally collaborate in a results-oriented environment.

  • Effectively work in a highly confidential environment with the highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.

  • Graduate of a top-tier, accredited law school.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Corporate legal experience with a multi-national and/or public company.
