Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior DB Rail/Transit Design Manager to work out of our Los Angeles office.

This position supports the West Coast Rail/Transit division in execution of rail and transit alternative delivery projects, managing staff and tasks associated with this work, and supporting rail design pursuits of major rail capital programs including light rail, heavy rail or commuter rail. This position will manage multidiscipline teams to meet scope, schedule and budget on multi-million tasks or projects, lead meetings with client and stakeholders, and mentor junior to mid-level staff.

The appropriately qualified applicant will demonstrate an established career in the rail transit industry, and specifically with LA Metro, and have strong relationships with contractors who are in the rail transit business and a successful track record of business development, client service, and program management. The focus will be on expanding our overall design build transit practice in Los Angeles area. Experience needs to include the direct management of the final design on major rail transit design-build projects, representing the engineering company that has the final design responsibility.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

  • The candidate must be a California PE

  • Experience must include organizational development and leadership, program management, client service management, design and/or business development activities for large-scale transportation/transit clients and/or projects

  • Experience must include continuous design management responsibility, including management of design services during construction, on at least one (1) design-build light rail or heavy rail transit project. The experience must include interfacing with state and local jurisdictions

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus fifteen (15) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in the design and management of complex multidisciplinary civil works with approximately five (5) years of experience in managing the design of large, complex rail transit projects

  • 20+ years of experience in organizational development and leadership, program management, client service management, design and/or business development activities for large-scale transportation/transit clients and/or projects

  • Track record of increasing market share in the transit sector

  • A recognized leader in developing and nurturing relationships with key clients

  • Experience in client pre-positioning activities, team (internal and external) and proposal development, and execution of selection interviews

  • Recognized business development/client management leader

  • A team-oriented individual that can work with operations, project and marketing staff of all levels

  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and business lines for integrated delivery and growth

  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated team-building and internal/external networking skills

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software programs

Offered rate of compensation ([insert state] locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $141,243.45 - $261,300.39.
