Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Geologist for employment in AECOM’s downtown Los Angeles office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Review of site-specific geologic material, regulatory requirements, and reports

  • Log exploratory borings and collect soil samples

  • Install and abandon monitoring wells

  • Conduct soil, soil gas, and groundwater investigations

  • Provide oversight of subcontractors

  • Prepare boring logs, data analysis summaries, and generate subsurface cross sections and profiles

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations

  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and environmental permit application packages

  • Work under the supervision of project managers or senior-level team members

  • Assist Project Managers with budget and scope preparation, development of work plans and overall coordination of a variety of project management tasks related to new and on-going projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in geology or relevant geological science discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, and geochemistry)

  • 0-2 years of experience

  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck

  • Must be able to work outdoors year-round

  • Willingness and availability to travel occasionally

  • Must possess a valid driver license

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD experience

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
