Job Description

AECOM Hunt is seeking Legal Counsel to join and support its legal department. This role will be a hybrid position including a combination of both remote and in-office scheduling that can be based in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Description:

  • Works on legal matters for AECOM Hunt and its subsidiaries.

  • Review RFP’s and negotiate various forms of agreements and subcontracts.

  • Identify risks and preparation of legal advice with inputs to risk assessments and requests for approval to proceed with projects or pursuits.

  • Assists project teams during construction with on-going project reviews and resolution of issues including the drafting of notices and/or claims.

  • Partners with the commercial and operations teams to identify and protect the interests and objectives of the company to minimize risk of loss or liability.

  • Participates and/or leads negotiations between the company and its client(s).

  • Manages external counsel where appropriate and necessary in judicial and administrative litigation and/or claims.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Work is subject to best practices and procedures covered by precedents, well-defined policy, and process considerations requiring periodic review with other teams or work groups.


Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney to include supporting construction projects, experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating agreements and/or handling claims and litigation, or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

  • Ability to work independently while functioning well in a team environment.

  • Possess advanced analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills and abilities.

  • Extremely organized with a strong sense of priority, urgency, and commitment to deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • +10 years of legal building construction experience.

  • Experience with a General Contractor (GC) or Construction Manager (CM).

  • Experience reviewing and summarizing legal contracts.

  • JD expertise in real estate, construction, etc.

  • Experience/knowledge of insurance policies, coverages, and claims.

  • Experience handling or overseeing litigation/dispute resolution proceedings.

  • Experience with Federal Government contracts/procedures.

  • Ability to partner, collaborate and work well in a team environment.

  • Driven, dynamic and confident, flexible, and proactive.

  • Ability to be positive, influence others, represent the organization, region, and management professionally and positively.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $200,000.00 - $261,300.00.
