Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to be based in Orange or Los Angeles, California.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead traffic engineering projects throughout California

  • Plan approvals through LADOT and Caltrans

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events as well as write concise and readable technical reports and documents

  • Supporting a wide range of traffic engineering projects for roadway, freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities

  • Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving design calculations, analysis, value engineering, writing technical specification and project cost estimate

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered, apply innovative design solution, implementing current technology to meet project design needs

  • Provides guidance, mentor and coach to entry level/junior engineers, or technicians, to learn and improve their technical skills

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and preferable Project)Skilled in MicroStation and AutoCAD software

  • Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, demonstrate effective time management skills, and consistently deliver high quality deliverables

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS plus eight (8) years of relevant experience including work in the state of California or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of job-related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • California PE/TE license

  • Hands on design/study experience on Caltrans transportation projects and familiar with Caltrans standards, Highway Design Manual, Traffic Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, policy and procedures

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $140,000.00 - $220,000.00.
