AECOM Engineering Technician – SERMC in Mayport, Florida

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Engineering Technician to provide mechanical engineering support for naval ships in the Mayport, FL area. The position will be located at Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), Mayport, FL.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Technical Assistance as necessary in the troubleshooting and repair of Freshwater production and pollution abatement equipment.

  2. Provide Technical expertise during various assessment evolutions, such as TSRA/INSURV

  3. As part of an onboard technical assist visit, provide ships force with on the job training (OJT)

  4. Assist with the identification of required repair parts necessary to correct system malfunctions

  5. Complete the required documentation upon completion of assessment and technical assist visits

  6. Ability to work independently, perform tasks in confined spaces


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of “journeyman level” experience within the last 10 years in all of the following areas:

  • Independently or leading a team of technicians troubleshooting, repairing or testing U.S. Navy ships mechanical systems to include pollution abatement equipment; Oily Water Separator Systems (OWS), and associated pumps and piping

  • Interpreting naval engineering drawings and piping diagrams.

  • Must be qualified as a Nay Oil Pollution Abatement (OPA) inspector in accordance with NAVSEA technical manual S9593-FL-GYD-010.

  • Independently or leading a team accomplishing formal material condition assessments (i.e. TSRA, ICMP, INSURV, or similar) of U.S. Navy Ship System as noted in item (a)

  • Communicate the findings of the above troubleshooting/assessments with official reports

  • Use of the following, or similar, workload databases: Microsoft Office products, Navy Maintenance Database (NMD), minimum of read access rights on Electronic Departure For Specifications (eDFS), Navy Ships’ Engineering Drawing Repository (NSEDR) and TAAS-Info.

  • Position requires an active Secret clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
