Job Description

Network Administrator

AECOM is seeking a Network Administrator for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC). The TMC is a 24/7 operation providing traffic and incident management for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. This position works at the TMC located in Miami, Florida and reports to the IT Manager. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable with Layers 1, 2, and 3 network configuration and specifically the network configuration of the FDOT District Six Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure. The TMC uses the SunGuide ATMS to document traffic incidents and control ITS devices such as dynamic message signs, CCTV cameras, and traffic detectors. The candidate should be familiar with fiber optic cable and wireless telecommunication troubleshooting and integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Works under supervision and in a team environment.

  • Plans and manages implementation and integration of new technologies.

  • Project size is of high complexity.

  • Must have the aptitude to learn new technical tools required for the role.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with internal customers.

  • Represent the client at local and regional meetings related to networking and ITS.

  • Maintain and configure the Layer 3 network.

  • Conduct network troubleshooting across multiple modes of telecommunication including fiber optic cables and wireless systems.

  • Integrate various ITS devices including dynamic message signs, CCTV cameras, traffic detectors, and others.

  • Manage unicast and multicast video and its integration with DIVAS.

  • Assist with troubleshooting Windows server and MS Outlook 365

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related field and 6 years of experience with networks and telecommunications or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • CCNA and CCNP certification (or be able to obtain within six months)

  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining network equipment.

  • Experience with routing and switching.

  • Experience with unicast and multicast video streaming.

Preferred:

  • Experience and knowledge of cybersecurity.

  • Experience and knowledge in the following: VPN Tunnels, Sophos and Sophos Firewall, SolarWinds, and Windows server maintenance.

  • Experience and knowledge with the Microsoft suite of software including Office.

  • Experience and knowledge of Extreme Networks is a plus.

  • Experience and knowledge in Python and C# is a plus.

  • Experience and knowledge of Florida DOT’s SunGuide ATMS is a plus.

  • Experience and knowledge of Operations Task Manager is a plus.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $129,900.00.
