AECOM Transportation / Technology Engineer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

AECOM is actively seeking a self-motivated Transportation / Technology Engineer for employment within our Technology Department in Austin or Houston, TX offices and/or other U.S locations. The Technology/Transportation Engineer will be responsible for supporting technology related projects that involve smart mobility, connected and automated vehicles, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), data management and analysis, electrification, and other emerging transportation technology. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work on arterial traffic management systems, technology pilot deployments, and traffic engineering. Join a team of experienced innovative experts to develop and apply new and emerging technology solutions to transportation.
The position targets those with existing experience in transportation engineering and/or planning and will report to senior transportation or project management staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Work as part of a team and independently in evaluating and applying Transportation Engineering principles, standards, and criteria
Assist in agency coordination and emerging technology / ITS planning and design projects. Projects may involve advanced transportation technology, connected and automated vehicle pilots, smart mobility, electric vehicles, broadband communications, ITS devices, and other innovative solutions.
Work on a wide range of projects and tasks and assist with field reviews, field research, evaluations, data collection, data analysis, graphics, maps, drawings, visual aids, data presentation, and report development
Support ITS systems engineering analysis, design, construction plan development, specifications, quantities, estimates
Perform traffic engineering tasks such as traffic impact studies, traffic analysis software and simulation modeling, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing, street light design, air/noise modeling, data analysis, before/after evaluation studies
Analyze crash data to identify crash patterns and probable causes, develop collision and condition diagrams. conduct predictive safety analysis
Participate in transportation planning assignments, corridor studies, and safety studies
Prepare technical reports, provide project meeting support, and perform other duties as required
Interact directly with clients at project meetings and with other disciplines such as roadway, drainage, structures, geotech, water, and environment to coordinate design
Prepare technical memorandums, papers, and presentations for clients and/or internal distribution
Represent AECOM at conferences and professional organizations
Mentor and provide guidance to entry level engineers
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Efficiently manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
Good communication skills and team spirit
Work in a collaborative fast paced team environment
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS in Civil or Transportation Engineering plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
P.E. License in Texas or other US states
Master’s degree in related engineering discipline
Five plus years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience in traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/ SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
Knowledge of safety analysis using HSM
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Interest in emerging technology
