Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented and creative Construction Project Engineer to be based out of our Morrisville, NC location; however, the physical location of the project is in Mayport, FL.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting construction project management from the pre-construction budgeting/ schedule stage through procurement, shop drawing/coordination development, construction, space turnover and contract closeout.

  • Applicants must be willing to travel, as job-site visits may be required.

  • Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide engineering reviews of construction submittals, designs, and requests for information.

  • Support the project manager and other project personnel with estimating, scheduling, procurement, labor tracking, finance, accounting, project documentation and general project administration.

  • Participate in developing project bidding strategy with the project team and purchasing department. Assist with preparation of scopes of work for each trade.

  • Develop logistics plans that allow contractors to complete their work in a coordinated, efficient manner.

  • Attend meetings with construction contractors, clients, and design teams, document meeting actions and follow up activities required.

  • Assist with development and implementation of construction quality control and safety programs. Implement and maintain tracking mechanisms for corrective actions.

  • Review project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, and financial reports. Evaluate deviations from the project baseline data (i.e., original schedule, budget, etc...).

  • When requested, interfaces with client, architect and design professionals to ensure compliance to design intent and client satisfaction.

  • Contribute to building good communications between field management, project management, estimating, procurement, suppliers, vendors, and specialty contractors to ensure construction complies with plans, specifications and company quality standards and that the project is completed on time and within budget.

  • Responsible for continuously expanding and updating professional knowledge and honing training skills in order to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field + 4 years of engineering or construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Minimum Requirements Equivalencies:

  • AA/AS (US) + 6 years of construction engineering experience or High School Diploma/GED + 8 years of construction engineering experience

Additional Minimum Requirements:

  • Computer/Software proficiency with Microsoft Office proficiency a minimum (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Proficient in English in both written and oral communication

  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others a must

  • Ability to read and interpret project specifications and drawings

Preferred Qualifications

  • General engineering knowledge

  • Previous experience working with government clients; for example USACE and USAF

  • Basic understanding of project accounting and spreadsheet management

  • Primavera Scheduling software (P6) experience preferred

  • Specialized courses in construction management a plus
