AECOM has a position available for a GIS/GPS Field Technician in Morrisville, North Carolina. The GIS/GPS Field Technician will support both internal and external clients across multiple business lines.
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
This position will support a wide variety of projects including environmental permitting, construction, site assessments, inspections, energy infrastructure, water resources, transportation and more.
field data collection, data processing, equipment and deployment preparation, mobilization, light geospatial production work and other project tasks.
Regular travel to support project deployment and field data collection activities is a requirement of this position
Utilize GPS, LiDAR and other hardware and software to collect field data and conduct field assessments. Process and develop data files to be used in GIS, CADD and LiDAR finishing packages.
Familiarity with basic map production and some techniques related to geospatial data manipulation are necessary.
Understand GPS technology and some familiarly with its use in the field.

HS Diploma and 2+ years of relevant experience
Experience must include
Using GPS hardware and software (such as Trimble, Arrow, Leica, etc.)
Using ESRI ArcMap, AutoCAD and/or Revit software with emphases on processing or manipulating 2D/3D data
Using LiDAR scanner equipment and laser scanning equipment
Field and Office work that includes the ability to:
Work outside, sometimes in inclement weather, in abandoned buildings and/or over rugged terrain.
Lift/carry equipment possibly weighing 20 lbs or more
Ability to travel routinely (out of town and out of state) on short notice for up to two weeks at a time

Must have a valid US Driver’s license and pass a pre-employment motor vehicle record check
Highly preferred: Associates degree in GIS, Geomatics, Survey, Geography, Geosciences or related field.
Capable of processing point cloud data.
Proficiency working with computers and tablets on Windows, iOS, and Android operating systems.
Technical savvy to problem-solve and troubleshoot field equipment issues.
Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written form.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment
Ability to work efficiently alone as well as on a team
